After missing on the Mapinduzi Cup trophy, losing to Simba SC in the final, Kenyan International Kenneth Muguna is on course to winning silverware with Azam as his side advanced to the Round of 16 of the Azam Sports Federation Cup (AZFC) on Friday evening.The ice cream makers saw off Transit Camp by a solitary goal to book a spot in the last 16 of the competition with Muguna being an influential player in the match.Captaining the side for the evening, Agrey Moris led by example as he headed home the all-important goal in the 29th minute from a corner, and Azam went on to hold on to the narrow lead to full-time.Despite having a better display in the second half, playing beautifully with the ball, Azam could not find the second goal to double their advantage but the lone goal still got the job done.Muguna and his side will now face off with Baga Friends in the last 16 after they eliminated Catamine 2-1.The former Gor Mahia midfielder has slowly come to life at his new side since leaving the record Kenyan Champions mid last year and was one of the few players who were not affected by squad rotation for the match against Transit Camp.FULL TIME!@azamfc 1-0 Transit CampMoris ⚽ pic.twitter.com/6BgAPGsYmY— Azam FC (@azamfc) January 28, 2022 Earlier in the month, Kenyan international Joash Onyango won the Mapinduzi Cup with Simba SC after a 1-0 victory over Muguna’s Azam FC in a final staged at the Amaan Stadium in Zanzibar.
