Kenyan international Joash Onyango has reportedly stalled over signing a new deal with Simba SC of Tanzania with his current contract expiring at the end of July.Onyango has been a cog in Simba’s defence since he joined the team from Gor Mahia in July 2020. He inked a two-year deal that is set to expire at the end of July and Simba are keen on tying the Harambee Stars defender who is popular among the Simba faithful.According to reports in Tanzania, Onyango has tabled huge demands for him to renew his contract with Wekundu wa Msimbazi. He has reportedly demanded Ksh5 million in signing fees and a monthly salary of just above half a million Kenya shillings.“The discussion between Simba SC and Onyango has not reached any agreement over a contract extension. Pirates want to beef up their backline and have earmarked Onyango as one of their potential signings. It is reported that they have tabled a contract that is so tempting financially.Onyango’s journey has been that of steady but sure progression. He started out at the now-defunct West Kenya Sugar FC, moved to Western Stima which has since folded as well. His breakthrough came when he moved to Gor Mahia in January 2017. He started playing for the national team, featured in CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup, and was part of Kenya’s squad at the 2019 African Cup of Nations.
