Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) table-toppers Kakamega Homeboyz have been handed a massive injury boost after defender Portipher Odhiambo resumed training with the rest of the squad.Odhiambo has been out with a knee injury since November which denied him a chance to make his debut for the Bernard Mwalala-coached side. The 2021 National Super League (NSL) MVP is now back in training and could be available for selection in the next few weeks. Mwalala says the player looks sharp in training and has termed his return a boost for the team.“Portipher is back from injury, he has trained for the last couple of days and I can say that he looks sharp. I think he needs a couple of more training sessions before he is fully ready to play but I can say so far so good, we are satisfied with what we are seeing at the training ground. His return is definitely a boost for the team because he gives us options at the back and because we will have fixture congestion ahead and things like injuries, we need to have most of our players fit and ready to play,” Mwalala told Mozzart Sport in an interview.National Super League MVP Portipher Odhiambo in Homeboyz colors#FKFPL pic.twitter.com/ivlJ8olnje— Ole Teya (@Kevin_teya) September 21, 2021 Meanwhile, Mwalala has revealed that they will be making one more signing before ending their mid-season transfer business. The club has so far acquired three players; Mike Isabwa has been acquired from Vihiga Bullets, Evans Maliachi from FC Talanta while Gaetan Masha has been signed from Nzoia Sugar. The final signing will be that of a defensive midfielder,“We have signed three players so far and we want to bring onboard one more, a defensive midfielder for that matter and after that I think we will be done with transfer business, the focus will now be on trying to secure loan moves for our young players who have not been playing much,” he added.Homeboyz will host Nzoia Sugar over the weekend.
