Official: Maverick Posta Rangers coach Stanley Okumbi quits after impressive spell

Stanley Okumbi has stepped down from his position as Posta Rangers head coach and is set to go outside the country to further his coaching knowledge, Mozzart Report can report.The tactician, who has been in charge of the Mail-men for the last 11 months confirmed his departure from the club on Wednesday as he bid the players goodbye. The tactician, who replaced Sammy Omolo in February 2021 has in recent weeks been linked with a move to reigning league champions, Tusker FC.His assistant Collins ‘Korea’ Omondi was in charge of training on Friday morning as the team prepares to take on Gor Mahia on Sunday in an FKF Premier League return leg match. The two teams met a week ago for the first leg where Posta whipped Gor Mahai 3-0 at the Thika Sub-County Stadium.“We did not expect it. He just informed us on Wednesday that he is leaving for further studies. At the club level, he has handled Kariobangi Sharks, Mathare United, and Wazito FC. He has also coached the national team, Harambee Stars, Kenya u23, and Kenya u23 teams. in 2017 he was in charge of the KPL All-Stars team that played Hull City in a friendly match in the UK.The Mail-men have looked solid this season in the league and have claimed wins over giants like Gor Mahia, Tusker FC, and Bandari. They recruited massively before the start of the season and it has paid dividends as in some matches, they have looked unplayable.It is not yet clear as to whether the management will move in to recruit another coach or they will let Korea, who has previously handled Nzoia Sugar and Nairobi Stima be in charge of the team. He has also served as an assistant coach at Kariobangi Sharks, Mathare United, and Sony Sugar.
