AFCON 2021: Egypt players promised over Ksh 70 million if they beat Senegal

The Egyptian Ministry of Youth and Sport has announced that the national team players will be handed a hefty reward of over Ksh 70 million should they defeat opponents Senegal in the final of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations tournament being played on Sunday night.According to Egyptian website Kingfut, Sports Minister Ashraf Sobhi reached an agreement with business mogul Hisham Talaat Moustafa, CEO and Managing Director of Talaat Mostafa Group, who made the promise to reward the players with the amount should they emerge victorious.”After a lengthy call between Hesham Talaat Mostafa, CEO of Talaat Mostafa business group, and Sport Minister Ashraf Sobhi, an agreement was reached in which both parties agreed to provide EGP10 million in rewards for the entire Egypt national team squad, if they beat Senegal,” the Egyptian website reports.Which team are you supporting tonight?#AFCON2021 #TeamSenegal #TeamEgypt pic.twitter.com/Md3RTVoj3N— Mozzart Sport Kenya (@MozzartSportKe) February 6, 2022 “Sobhi also explained that this reward will be in addition to the rewards given by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to the winning nation,” the website added.This year winners of the prestigious tournament will walk away with $ 5 million (circa 568 million Kenya shilling) after CAF’s executive committee reached an agreement to increase the overall prize money awarded from the quarterfinal stage.AFCON 2021: Title at stake as continental heavyweights Egypt and Senegal clash in the finalThe cash prizes will seek to serve as extra motivation to the Egyptian side who are eyeing even more history.
