Lille were no match for the ruthless expedition from Paris – stars scored, one of the goalkeepers made mistakes and it ended in a dominant win of the Saints.A win was a must, sort of, for Mauricio Pochettino’s squad as they were eager to correct their recent away form – three consecutive 1-1 draws ahead of this match. And they were gifted with an early lead, thanks to Croatian goalkeeper Ivo Grbić. After just 10 minutes, Nuno Mendes’ sent a cross which was fumbled by the Lille keeper. First, Grbić completely missed the ball when he attempted to punch Lionel Messi’s corner away thus allowing the ball to fall to Presnel Kimpembe. French defender had no problem netting it in from close range.Messi took advantage of a loose clearance at the edge of Lille’s box. The Argentinian snatched the ball and poked it over Grbić. A disastrous first half for the Croation, to say the least.Pochettino’s side grabbed their fourth only six minutes in the second half, and Lady Luck had a say in this one.Danilo Pereira’s tried outside the box, the shot was deflected and the ball flew past Grbic.It was a case of game management for the remaining 40 minutes.
