Reigning Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) champions Tusker FC, for a second time within a space of four days, managed to find a way past coastal based Bandari FC as they collected another three points in the second leg tie played at the Mbaraki Grounds in Mombasa on Sunday afternoon. In the first leg played at Ruaraka on Wednesday, Clyde Senaji’s worldie was all the Brewers needed to get the three points. In Mombasa, it is the returning David Majak and youth graduate Eric Zakayo who squared the contest with the two goals proving all that the 12 time champions needed to do the league double over the Dockers who were now left without a win in any of their last six games.FULL TIME at the Mbaraki Complex. Full shangwe 😜 pic.twitter.com/Lrwkqjqh1p— 🏆Tusker FC (@tusker_fc) February 6, 2022 Following the victory, Tusker managed to leapfrog Bandari and went upto seventh on the log on 26 points with the Dockers dropping to eighth position, a point behind. The game got off to a sluggish start though as both sides settled into the match with little action in front of both goals. With over half an hour played, it is Tusker who created the game’s closest chance and it ended up in the back of the net after Bandari goalkeeper Michael Wanyika failed to deal with a fierce Ibrahim Joshua thunderbolt, Majak finding himself in the right place to poke the ball into the back of the net and consequently give his team a 0-1 halftime lead in his second game since returning to the club from Sweden. In the second half Bandari should have restored parity in the 54th minute through Chris Ochieng who found himself with an empty net after Patrick Matasi’s save kindly fell in his path but the former Tusker player shockingly missed to direct his header on a chance that looked easy to miss than scoring.Oii! Chris Ochieng with a glaring miss when he only needed to tap the ball into an empty net. It was harder to miss that one than scoring but yeap, he headed it over with an empty goal.Bandari 0-1 Tusker (54′)#FKFPL— Ochi (@soo_ochieng) February 6, 2022 A minute later, newly acquired Kevin Kimani came asking questions again but his free kick from just outside the box missed the target by a whisker much to the reprieve of the Tusker bench.Having survived the storm, Zakayo sealed the win with a thunderous header in the 83rd minute from an inch perfect Daniel Sakari corner kick.
