Prodigal son Wendo set to rejoin Gor Mahia camp next week

Gor Mahia defensive midfielder Ernest Wendo says he intends to return to the team next week after one and half months of ghosting the club.Wendo controversially sneaked out the club at the start of last month with sources close to him indicating that he had elected to desert duty in a bid to force his way out in the mid-season transfer window. However, the burly midfielder cleared the air by stating that he had sought permission to attend to pressing family matters. The player was heavily linked with a move to league debutants Kenya Police and KCB but it is understood that Gor who lost a pillar in Harun Shakava in the final days of the window stood on his way.⚽️|The interim head coach has labelled the midfielder as Gor Mahia’s foot soldier#GorMahia #ErnestWendo #Sirkal #BKPL https://t.co/I14DvAwRsh— Mozzart Sport Kenya (@MozzartSportKe) July 19, 2021 Wendo revealed that he was angling at resuming training next week after finally getting over the ‘issues’ that had kept him out of competitive football since the start of the year. The former Kenyan international, while announcing his plan to walk back to the team could not hide his hunger to impress the new head coach Andreas Spier who began his tenure with a 3-1 win over Posta Rangers last weekend.Gor appointed the German tactician last week to plug in the gap left by Mark Harrison who was shown the door alongside his assistant Sammy Omollo and the goalkeepers’ trainer Jerim Onyango.⚽️|The interim head coach has labelled the midfielder as Gor Mahia’s foot soldier#GorMahia #ErnestWendo #Sirkal #BKPL https://t.co/I14DvAwRsh— Mozzart Sport Kenya (@MozzartSportKe) July 19, 2021 “I will be back to the team starting next week. Some personal issues had kept me out for some time and I really thank the management for giving me the permission to attend them. Of course I return with the hunger to fight for my place in the starting team and help achieve the objectives set for the season,” he said.In the absence of the former Bidco United man, Spier had to rely on John Ochieng in shielding the defence against Rangers.
