KCB suffered a blow in their pursuit to chase hot on the heels of table toppers Kakamega Homeboyz after settling for an uninspiring barren draw against Bandari FC in a Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) staged at the Kasarani Annex on Saturday.Tumejitahidi kutwaa ushindi lakini wenyeji wamefanikiwa kutuzuia. Tunaondoka na alama moja ugenini.#BandariNiYetu pic.twitter.com/mjZDARDln0— Bandari Football Club (@BandariOfficial) February 12, 2022 The Bankers arrived into the clash off a barren draw with basement boys Vihiga Bullets which further stunted their title charge and let go of an opportunity to whittle down Kakamega Homeboyz’ lead at the summit following their draw against Nzoia Sugar.Bandari on the other hand were reeling from their back to back losses against Tusker FC which extended their winless run to six games and all but extinguished their hopes of landing their maiden title. The game was off to a slow start as both teams played with the hand break on, committing more bodies to defense rather than being adventurous and exploiting each other’s rear end.The two teams were limited to long range efforts with Reagan Otieno’s strike from outside the box sailing just wide after James Mazembe had delivered a corner that was partially cleared in the 17th minute.Bandari settled into the game and started dictating the tempo if the game and came close in the 34th minute when Atariza Meja whipped in a cross that met the head of William Wadri but he could not guide his header on target as it whistled past the post.Michael Mutinda threaded a neat through ball to Henry Onyango that curved open the Bandari defense but the latter lacked the composure to beat Michael Wanyika as his shot was saved by the onrushing keeper in the 38th minute as both teams went into the break locked in a barren draw.##EDITORS_CHOICE##The second half had a mirror start to the first as both teams struggled to break each other down but KCB were handed a chance from a set piece when Otanga was hacked down by Felly Mulumba who got into the book for the foul. Robinson Kamura stepped up to take the free kick which was deflected onto the path of Otanga who blazed his effort high from point blank range at the stroke of the hour mark.Otanga was again in the thick of things a minute later when Baraka Badi marauded forward and played a pass across the face of goal to the former Wazito forward but his effort was comfortably dealt with by Wanyika in goal. The two teams lacked creativity in the game as most of the action was staged in the middle of the pack as the tie ended in a disappointing barren draw where both teams showed no intention of winning the game.KCB Starting XI: Gabriel Andika, Baraka Badi, Nashon Alembi, Robinson Kamura, Dennis Odhiambo, Michael Mutinda, Brian Ochieng (Simon Munala 80′), Derrick Otanga (Samuel Mwangi 80′), Michael Oduor (Mohammed Kilume 60′), James Mazembe (Sydney Lokale 80′), Henry Onyango (Reagan Otieno 60′).Unused subs: David Okello, Allan Akendo, Rama Mwenda,Brian Wepo, Hillary Wandera, John Mwangi.Bandari Starting XI: Michael Wanyika, Atariza Meja, Felly Mulumba, Andrew Juma, Boniface Mwangemi, Joseph Otieno, Dennis Magige (81′), Abdalla Hassan, Kevin Kimani, Benjamin Mosha (Chris Ochieng 81′), William Wadri.Unused subs: Joseph Ochuka, Benard Odhiambo, Brian Odera, Collins Agade, Darius Msagha, Salim Swaleh.
