Former Sports Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba has taken a swipe at hooliganism in sports following the shameful scenes witnessed at the Moi International Sports Center Kasarani on Sunday afternoon.Things went downhill at halftime after an incident that involved one of the Gor Mahia stewards and a fan. The steward is alleged to have attacked the fan for sneaking into the stadium without buying a ticket and in retaliation, fans descended on him and the two had to be hospitalized for further treatment. The incident served as a reminder that local game is yet to entirely move away from shameful acts of hooliganism in the stadium.Namwamba has joined hundreds of Kenyan in condemning the incident that also led to breakage of glasses and damage of property at the Kasarani Stadium.“Hooliganism in any form anywhere is a NO NO NO! Poleni Vihiga Bullets players, coaching staff and football fans affected by this reprehensible mayhem,” Ababu tweeted on Monday morning.TAWEEEE!Hooliganism in any form anywhere is a NO NO NO! Before the abandonment, Gor Mahia were 1-0 up courtesy of a George Odhiambo first half stoppage time goal. The FKF Caretaker Committee is later today expected to issue a statement on the fate of the game and it will be interesting to see if the points are awarded to either side or a replay will be scheduled.Meanwhile. Gor will face sanctions from Sports Kenya following the damages caused by their supporters during the fracas. This could include a total ban from using either Kasarani and Nyayo stadium and a fine to foot the costs of the repairs.
