Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Caretaker Committee has commenced preparations for elections as ordered by Sports Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohamed by holding a meeting with the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).The committee’s mandate comes to an end in May and before that they are expected to have held elections and handed over to the new office. The committee led by Judge Aaron Ringera came into office in November when the Nick Mwendwa led federation was disbanded by the CS.It is currently in charge of all football activities in the country and although CAF and FIFA do not recognize the body, it has continued to run football activities in the country. A major dent in their short stint was the withdrawal of Harambee Starlets from AWCON qualifiers, this came after the previous office told CAF that they had been ousted and could thus not stage the final qualification match against Uganda. CAF went ahead to hand over Uganda a walkover.Today, the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Caretaker Committee led by Hon. The fate of the match between Ulinzi Stars and Sofapaka that was aborted on 8th January owing to lack of an equipped ambulance is yet to be determined, there are a number of court cases challenging the promotion of some clubs to the upper tiers and on Sunday the match between Gor Mahia and Vihiga Bullets had to be called off due to violent scenes witnessed at Kasarani at halftime.
