After marking his FC Talanta debut with an assist, former Kakamega Homeboyz left back Thomas Wainaina has pledged to maintain the electric start and help the club achieve a top three finish.Wainaina made his Talanta debut last weekend in their 1-0 win over Bidco United at Thika Stadium after completing his switch to Homeboyz who swaped him for Evans Maliachi. As a club, we are targeting to be among the top three teams at the end of the season and to contribute to this, I will try my best to create ad many scoring chances as I can,” he said.Asked on why he left a title chasing outfit for a less ambitious one, Wainaina pointed out on the hunger to play regularly after spending most of the time warming the substitutes bench at Homeboyz.The former Nzoia Sugar player was Homeboyz’s first choice left back last season but saw limited playing time in the first leg under perhaps after the change of guard where Bernard Mwalala was promoted to the rank of head coach following the exit of his boss Nicholas Muyoti to joined Nairobi City Stars.Homeboyz sit at the top of the log with 37 points ten ahead of Talanta who made to the league and bossing in the second tier last season.”I wanted to stay at Homeboyz but when the swap deal came,I didn’t think twice as I wanted an opportunity to play more often.
