I know that when the team is depending on me I can step up and fill the gap to help the team. Saruni’s shoes are pretty big to fill but I am doing my best whenever called up. I have set a bar and have shown that I can do it whenever required. I am willing to fight for that position with Saruni because I believe that is healthy competition for the team and it makes us better as a whole,” Ochieng said. The custodian further said that they are hoping to utilize the break to better the team with the second leg of the season gearing up.”The matches have been coming in thick and fast but match fitness is what matters at such a time and we have that, we are a big team and we have to show that in matches. It is actually helping us because we are transitioning from one match to the other with hunger. Now we have a small break and we will use that to our advantage,” he added. He made his debut for the Soldiers in October, being given the starting berth against his former side Mathare United ahead of Jackton Odhiambo in the absence of James Saruni who missed the match due to illness.
