Former Western Stima tactician Paul Ogai is among the three coaches contesting to succeed Robert Ojienda at National Super League Shabana. The former league giant was rendered coach-less last month after Ojienda tendered his resignation citing personal reasons, a development that saw Kevin Momanyi take over on interim basis. The club’s Secretary General Elizaphan Kerama confirmed that Ogai was in the final list of coaches who were being considered for the job but remained tight-lipped on the identity of the other two.Today is a special day. However, Kerama insists that the former Coast Stima trainer is firmly in the race to take over the reigns.”We had a good number of coaches who had expressed interest in the vacant coaching job. We have narrowed the number to three and we will eventually unveil the best on Wednesday. Ogai is among the three but that does not mean that he is our preferred choice. We are looking for a coach who will understand the situation we are in and work with the available players towards achieving the objective we have for the season ” he said.Despite the team not flourishing at the moment, Kerama maintained that they will not settle for anything less of automatic promotion to the top flight. He attributed their recent dismal run to dried up finances and lack of experience in the technical bench. To cure the incessant financial constraints, he revealed plans to hold a fundraiser next month and at the same time encouraged the fans to back the team.Tunawashukuru sana Mashabiki, wapenzi, wadau na wale wanaotutakia mema kwa mapenzi tu. The challenge has been lack of sufficient funds partly triggered by the fact that we no longer bag gate collections as our home matches are played in Awendo. We do not have a sponsor but we want to hold a fundraiser next month even as we continue looking for a partner, “he added.
