Vihiga Bullets head coach Juma Abdallah has backed his young keeper Elix Otieno to play a big role in the survival bid this season.Otieno joined Bullets from Kakamega Homeboyz in January on loan for the remainder of the season and has since become the first-choice keeper at the FKF Premier League newbies. When he joined the team, Juma opined that the team’s backline needed fixing as they were letting in too many goals. He wanted the goalkeeping department and defense line fixed if they are to avoid relegation from the top tier this season.Halftime trouble that made Vihiga Bullets refuse to proceed with the second half due to insecurity and subsequently leading to the match being called off.Video @tonyanelka pic.twitter.com/OxS3fdQR3r— Rodgers Odhiambo (@rodgers_otienoo) February 13, 2022 Otieno has already impressed his new coach who has hailed him for stabilizing the goalkeeping department.”He is a young good goalkeeper and I can say that he is relatively experienced. So far he has been solid between the goals for us and I think that he will be an important player for us as we fight to avoid relegation from the league. The goalkeeping department was a weak area for us and we needed to beef up that department and with Elix, we are sorted,” he told Mozzart Sport. On his team’s survival chances, Juma remains positive that they will avoid the drop from the top tier this season.”I am positive that we will remain in the league. Winning our home games will be key in our fight for survival and so far we have been playing with more confidence here at home. We have to keep improving and make our home ground a fortress,” he added.Bullets will play AFC Leopards on Sunday at Nyayo Stadium.
