Ulinzi Stars saw off KCB by a solitary goal courtesy of Brian Birgen at Kericho to bounce back to winning ways and move to 10th on the log with 25 points. The Soldiers were forced to take their home match to Kericho after the FKF Caretaker Committee banned the use of A.S.K Grounds for FKFPL matches for being unsuitable. While the Soldiers moved up the log, the result meant that the Bankers missed the chance to go to third on the log. KCB had won 2-0 in the reverse fixture and Ulinzi did all within their means to ensure their picked equal points from the fixture.Captaining the side for the second time in the absence of James Saruni, Brian Birgen scored the all-important goal after just half an hour from a great solo effort to give the hosts the lead.Six minutes after the goal, Robinson Kamura had the chance to level the scores but his effort went miles over the bar.John Kago could have doubled the lead for Benjamin Nyangweso’s charges with eight minutes to play but his shot went just inches wide with Gabriel Andika well beaten in goal before KCB responded with an attempt of their own but Derrick Otanga could not connect well to a Dennis Odhiambo cross. On resumption, KCB came back with the intent to level the scores while Ulinzi were focusing on putting a solid display to protect their lead at all cost.🚨🚨 Goooooaaaaal!!!!27′ : Brian ‘Our captain’ Birgen with a solo effort gives us the lead👏👏👏✅ Brayo ashamake withdrawal ya kwanza😁: Na venye tarehe imekubali😁Ulinzi Stars FC 1-0 KCB FC— Ulinzi Stars FC (@UlinziStarsFC) February 26, 2022 The two teams made changes at the hour mark with Nyangweso bringing in Antonio Abwao for Clinton Omondi as Zedekiah Otieno brought in James Mazembe and Sydney Lokale for Michael Oduor and Victor Omondi.Still chasing the game, KCB further made a triple change as Henry Onyango, Simon Munala, and Brian Ndenga came on for Samuel Mwangi, Derrick Otanga, and John Mwangi who was making his debut since making the switch from Mathare United.Benard Ongoma and Oscar Wamalwa were part of Nyangweso’s reinforcement as they came in to replace Mark Bikokwa and Ibrahim Shambi with 13 minutes left to play.
