In a 100m race, Leeds would give you a 50m headstart

When the race is tight, you have to be on your way while the starting gun is still sounding. If you’re too sluggish, you’ll get left behind. That’s exactly what happened to Leeds United when they met Tottenham on Saturday – they were still doing their laces when the other guys started to run.Tottenham Hotspur put the midweek disappointment of Turf Moor behind them as they thrashed Leeds United in the early Premier League kick-off on Saturday.Ryan Sessegnon was one of the few Spurs players who delivered an acceptable performance at Burnley and he continued to play well today. Every time he went down the left flank, he created problems from Luke Ayling and other Leeds defenders. The former Fulham man played a delicious ball into the path of Matt Doherty who had an easy task to fire into Illian Meslier’s net just ten minutes into the game. The home crowd at Elland Road feared that it was going to be another long day watching their beloved team. Just five minutes later, their fears proved justified. Dejan Kulusevski, who’s got his first goal and assist in the surprise win over Manchester City, repeated the feat by finding the net with a precise low shot that beat Meslier at the neat post. The Frenchman will be disappointed with it, but Kulusevski and his boss Conte didn’t mind at all.Only a quarter of an hour has gone and Leeds were already staring at another defeat – their fourth on the bounce. You can always count on Harry Kane to punish you if you give him even a bit of space. Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg delivered a pass for the captain who steered the ball into the far corner with Meslier wrong-footed. The goal meant that Leeds were only the second-ever Premier League to have conceded three or more goals in five consecutive matches – the first being Sunderland in 2005.That is the worst display of footballing ability I’ve ever seen, Dallas should be subbed instantly #LEETOT #Leeds pic.twitter.com/Vw8ip5O5Zw— Mathew (@MJDebio93) February 26, 2022 It was game over. The second half was merely a formality.Stuart Dallas has had a chance to score for the hosts and at least make the defeat a little less painful, but he made a mess out of a situation where he was alone, but he still managed to shoot at Ben Davies. It summed up Leeds’ afternoon perfectly. On the other end, Kane and Son combined wonderfully to make it four. Kane spotted the Korean’s run and struck a magnificent long pass from his own half for Son to poke it past Meslier.Where do Leeds go from here? Hopefully not down to the EFL Championship.PREMIER LEAGUE – ROUND 27FridaySouthampton – Norwich 2-0 (1-0)/Adams 36, Romeu 88/SaturdayLeeds United – Tottenham Hotspur 0-4 (0-3)/Doherty 10, Kulusevski 15, Kane 28, Son 86/18:00: (1.35) Man.Utd.
