Once again, the drama over European Super League got everyone riled up. Juventus boss Andrea Agnelli is pushing for the idea again, which collapsed like a house of cards a year ago and it seems that it will not succeed this time either.Yesterday’s statement from Agnelli said that 12 clubs have signed a 120-pages contract with the ESL and that 11 of them are still bound by those contracts – however it is already revealed that there is a club that does not believe in the idea of the new continental competition.Tue 23:00: (1.57) Liverpool (4.30) Inter (6.25)Inter Milan were the only one to include a clause in the contract which says that the club is not obliged to the agreement with the Super League if all their sponsors do not wish to go along with the project. As all sponsors did not provide support, Inter Milan decided to leave the whole Super League story behind, according to Spanish media. The three clubs that are backing the idea of the Super League the most are Juventus, Real Madrid and Barcelona. The remaining eight (Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham, Atletico Madrid and AC Milan) are still bound by signed contracts and cannot come out of those so easily. Although, after last year’s collapse of the European Super League project, they distanced themselves from that idea in official statements and apologized to the fans. They are waiting for UEFA’s response and the overall outcome.Agnelli’s counter-attack: ”The ESL is not doomed, 12 clubs agreed on it”Last week, Andrea Agnelli organized a meeting in his house with the leaders of the remaining clubs who signed and convinced them that they should advocate for the idea of the Super League because it will bring good for everyone.”For me, the Super League is not a failure. If we look at the world of football, we will see that plans for such a league have existed for decades. Last year, for the first time, 12 clubs dared to issue a joint statement which was a wake-up call because the current system is on the verge of collapse.”, Agnelli said yesterday.”However, such a system has survived and we are now waiting for the judgments of the European Union, which will answer us whether we operate in a free and transparent industry – or if the regulatory body holds monopoly over the whole situation. I have high hopes for the judgment of the European Union. We live in an industry that generates 25 billion euros in taxes and employs over 1,000,000 people.””In my opinion, European football is in a desperate situation today and it needs reforms.” European Super League revamp on the way? Tebas: ESL creators lie more than PutinDespite Agnelli’s belief that 11 big clubs can make their own competition – Inter stepping away, as one of the biggest clubs in the world, is a serious blow to his plans. On the other hand, other huge clubs are still in the narrative and that can keep one of the most powerful Italians optimistic.Along with Inter, those who are against the new tournament are Bayern, Paris Saint-Germain, Borussia Dortmund, Ajax, Napoli, Lazio, Roma, Benfica, Porto, Sevilla…
