In January, they paid us half the salary and they just recently settled other half after weeks of promises. It is for this reason that we decided to strike so that they can stop taking us for granted,” he told Mozzart Sport. In a quick rejoinder, an official of the club speaking on condition of anonymity accused the players of blackmail.”We just paid the remainder of their January salary and we have promised to pay the February one in the next few days. I find it illogical for these players to down tools ahead of an important match because we are four days late with their salary. The chairman explained to them on when they should expect to be paid but they opted for a strike, this is a clear case of blackmail from players, ” he stated.Coach Patrick Aussems and other coaching staff werre spotted at the Camp Toyoyo Grounds waiting for the players in vain.
