In a surprise unfolding of events, the government-installed Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Caretaker Committee led by retired Justice Aaron Ringera has called for a meeting at the Nyayo National Stadium on Wednesday 9 March 2022 with all FKF branches across the country.News of the planned convergence comes barely two weeks since the country, through its member association FKF, was suspended by world football governing body FIFA from all its activities citing third party interference by the government.FIFA suspends Kenya from international footballIn the planned meeting, the caretaker body is set to talk about the FIFA suspension as one of its main agenda as it gives a brief to the branches on the current status of the Kenyan game. The body is also set to deliberate on the state of compliance by the football stakeholders.“The FKF Caretaker Committee hereby invites all Football Kenya Federation branches to a meeting at the Nyayo National Stadium on 9th of March 2022 at 10 am. The purpose of this meeting is to:a) Brief you on the current status of Kenyan football and the way forward in view of the establishment of the FKF Caretaker Committeeb) Fifa suspensionc) Deliberate on the state of compliance of football stakeholders,” the statement read.BREAKING NEWS: FKF Caretaker Committee ready to meet with FKF Branches…. 👀— Greg Mulemi (@Mulemig) March 4, 2022 In order to have the suspension rescinded, FIFA stated that the Caretaker Committee must be done away with and the ousted executive body be reinstated in office but Sports Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohammed, in a rebuttal, declared that was not going to happen.Kenyan government responds after FIFA suspensionAhead of the meeting, the FKF Caretaker Committee further directed all branch officials to furnish them with compliance document, EACC Clearance of office holders and certificate of good conduct of office holders within a week of the letter in order for them to establish their legitimacy in office.The committee also asked the branches to equip themselves with detailed financial records that track back from 2016 to 2021 and audited accounts from date of joining office. Additionally, branches were told to carry with them administrative documents such as contracts of their employees, EACC Clearance and Tax Compliance Certificates of all office holders among a whole list of documents that were required.
