Nakuru Queens overcame what coach Bernard Esitoko has termed as poor officiating to see off bottom-placed Kangemi Ladies 3-0 in the only Women Premier League (WPL) March played on Saturday at the ABSA Club.Three quick goals in the first half, one Melon Mulindi and a brace for Nabangala Nyongesa made all the difference as the visitors walked away with maximum points. The win for Esitoko’s charges continue to plunge Kangemi deeper into misery as they remain in the relegation zone with only one win for three points in ten matches. “We were lucky to have scored the three goals in the early stages if the match because the kind of officiating we experienced in the second half could not allow for us to get a positive result. Nakuru eye maximum points to move sixth as WPL battle heats upMy players were put under constant frustration with questionable calls and in the end, the two scorers were give matching orders, having picked two yellow cards each. We finished the match with nine players but they held their own to protect the lead and bag maximum points away,” offered Esitoko. The win is a great morale booster for the Nakuru-based side as they prepare to face highly rated Gaspo Women in Nakuru. “We will miss the services of the two who are our top scorers. Mulindo has six goals while Nyongesa has seven so far. The red cards were unfair in my opinion but the rest of the squad has vowed to cover for the duo’s absence in the Gaspo match to deny them any points and protect the Nakuru territory,” the tactician added. The pre-season in fighting for Kangemi continues to affect the side as they are yet to find a winning formula and are staring at relegation. The side was promoted to the top tier this season after winning the Zone A championship but a section of players and technical bench left before the league kicked off only to return after the side had lost footing in the league.
