The shock therapy didn’t work. After losing four Premier League matches in a row, Leeds have decided to change coaches and relieved famous Marcelo Bielsa of his duties but it didn’t help, at least not in Jesse Marsch’s first game as a new coach. Including caretakers, six of the last seven managers to take charge of Leeds in the Premier League have lost their first game in charge in the competition and today, the American was the seventh: Leicester – Leeds 1-0. However, if Leeds continue to play like they did today against the Foxes, they do have a fair chance to survive in the England’s strongest competition.Jesse Marsch is handed a loss in his first game as Leeds coach by this Harvey Barnes winner 🎯(via @NBCSportsSoccer)pic.twitter.com/lrinY5RHo7— B/R Football (@brfootball) March 5, 2022 Jesse’s Marsch’s first game in charge was a positive one, aside from the result. Leeds have attacked with high tempo, pressed the opposition in their own half and created chances which maybe Patrick Bamford would use, but he is still injured, so Daniel James was the man in the attack. Former Manchester United winger was one of the better players in Leeds team, he created chances and even missed a good one himself, but he is not the striker.Bielsa’s successor cut ties with El Loco, emphasizing he’s a whole other storyLeeds had total control in the first 35 minutes, and had three excellent chances against pale Leicester, who won, but didn’t satisfy their coach Brendan Rodgers. Apart from James, Harrison and Rodrigo both had great chances but captain Casper Schmeichel saved the hosts. Leicester’s only meaningful chance came from a set-piece in the 44th minute, but Ndidi shot straight at host’s keeper. Leeds continued to dominate in the second half, even thou Leicester had more possession on the ball. Foxes goalie was a life saver once again, in the 58th and 60th minute, when he saved Rodrigo’s shots. All unused chances will come back to haunt you, say the unofficial football rulebook and that’s exactly what happened in the 67th minute when Barnes exchanged passes with Iheanacho to get into the penalty area and scored from far left into the opposite corner. Great and precise. Leeds didn’t recovered from this goal, but Schmeichel had to make another great save in injury time to make sure that his team wins with a clean sheet.PREMIER LEAGUE – ROUND 28SaturdayLeicester City – Leeds United 1-0 (0-0)/Barnes 67/18:00: (2.45) Aston Villa (3.30) Southampton (2.95)18:00: (7.50) Burnley (4.10) Chelsea (1.48)18:00: (2.70) Newcastle (3.05) Brighton (2.80)18:00: (2.90) Norwich (3.05) Brentford (2.60)18:00: (2.35) Wolverhampton (2.95) Crystal Palace (3.50)20:30: (1.32) Liverpool (5.50) West Ham (9.00)Sunday17:00: (6.00) Watford (3.80) Arsenal (1.60)19:30: (1.40) Man.City (4.50) Man.Utd.
