Former Harambee Stars captain Victor Wanyama was on the losing end again as his side CF Montreal fell 2-1 to Philadelphia Union on Sunday morning.Montreal lost their opening match away to Orlando City last week and were hoping to rectify the result at home but it was not to be despite going ahead in the match.Matchweek 2 @MLS 2022Full Time@cfmontreal 1-2 @PhilaUnion pic.twitter.com/4jy84hrzKC— mario romeo lopez (@lopezrojo23) March 6, 2022 Just like in the previous match where the former Tottenham midfielder was cautioned, he was also booked on Sunday for a bad foul after just 23 minutes and had to trod carefully for at least 67 minutes.Lassi Lappalainen struck first to give Montreal the lead after 32 minutes and see the hosts lead into the break.Five minutes into the second half, Djordje Mihailovic thought he had doubled the advantage for Montreal but his goal was struck off after VAR intervention, only for the hosts to concede three minutes later through Alejadro Bedoya.Daniel Gazdag gave Philadelphia Union the lead for the first time in the game three minutes after Bedoya had equalized, being on the end of a Julian Carranza pass.Carranza would however not play to the full length of the match as he was given his marching orders for a second bookable offense 71 minutes in, just seven minutes after he had been shown the first yellow card. The loss leaves Montreal third from the bottom being one of the four teams that have lost both opening matches.
