Salim Ali’s love for Posta Rangers that made him turn down three other clubs

New Posta Rangers head coach Salim Ali has revealed that he turned down three other job offers from different clubs in the Football Kenya Federation Premier League just to get the opportunity to work at the mailmen after the departure of Stanley Okumbi.Back in February 2022, Ali was the man picked to continue in Okumbi’s stead after the former Harambee Stars coach was reported to be heading out to Germany to further his coaching badges.Having been entrusted with the head coach role, the ex Mathare United boss, who has been out of top tier management for around nine months since his sacking from Mathare in May 2021, revealed to Mozzart Sport the pulling factor that finally made him join the mailmen.“It is good getting back to the premier league once again after some time out which is normal for managers. The kind of players who are at the club first off is the major motivation that made me want to come here. They are very good players that we currently have in the team. Before the move, I had three options that I could have gone to but I opted to join Posta Rangers,” the head coach stated.Marita gifts Salim Ali first win at Posta RangersBoasting the likes of Brian Marita, Timothy Otieno – the 2019/2020 league top scorer, Jackson Dwang, Brian Ondiek, Vincent Wasambo among others, Ali’s tenure at Rangers got off to a perfect start as Marita scored the only goal that gave him victory in his very first game in charge against FC Talanta. The coach was however not able to build on the result as current log leaders Kakamega Homeboyz soiled the manager’s plans of getting all available points in his first three games as they won 3-1.“The plan was to get all nine points in the first three games but we have gotten three and lost three. Hopefully, during midweek we can get another win to make it six points when I take charge of my third game. Meanwhile, we will continue working because I have only been here for two weeks now,” the head coach added.Homeboyz maintain unbeaten away run with win over PostaOn Wednesday, Ali will lead out his Rangers troops against Nairobi City Stars. As things stands, the mailmen are currently in seventh on the log on 29 points while the trailblazing City Stars are perched on second on 35 points, eight behind top spot.
