Victory for Gaspo takes them to secon on the log at 21 points, one better than Thika Queens who were second heading to Saturday’s matches. However, the holders lost an opportunity to grab two points as they played for a one-all draw against Trans Nzoia Falcons. Meawhile, leaders Vihiga Queens had a field day against bottom-placed Kangemi Ladies in a 5-2 win with second half substitute Faith Marende the hero of the day as she bagged a hattrick in the win. Janet Bundi opened the scoring for Vihiga in the 12th minute but Fasila Adhiambo bagged the equaliser un the 39th minute for the match to head to the halftime break on a stalemate. Marende, substituted in the second half, scored Vihiga’s second in the 55th minute, and her first this season, to hand Vihiga back the lead.Eight minutes later Topister Situma got herself on the scoreboard as she bagged Vihiga’s third. The match was far from over and Fasila gave Kangemi hopes of causing an upset, scoring a brace for a 3-2 scoreline. Marende doubled Vihiga’s advantage with her second and the team’s fourth before stepping up for a spot kick in the 90th minute which she converted for Vihiga’s victory and her hattrick. The win moves Vihiga to 28 points, seven more than second-best Gaspo while Thika are third at 20 points. Ulinzi move one step up to fourth at 19 points.
