What pressure? Mwalala cools coastal heat ahead of Bandari duel

Kakamega Homeboyz head coach Bernard Mwalala says he is not under any pressure to beat Bandari when the two sides face off at the Mbaraki Sports Club on Sunday afternoon. The league leaders travel to Mombasa to face the Dockers, a side that Mwalala has coached before. A win against the dockers could see Homeboyz open even a bigger gap at the top should other teams in the title race fail to garner maximum points over the weekend.Despite coming up against his former employer, Mwalala insists that they are not under any pressure to down the Anthony Kimani-led outfit as he intends to approach the game like any other with the aim of bagging maxim points.“It is just a match like any other; there is no pressure to beat Bandari just because they are my former team. We have prepared well for the game, the approach is the same we have had in the other games, the goal is to get three points and we are going to do our best to get maximum points from that game,” he told Mozzart Sport. The tactician however admits that the match will be far from comfortable despite the Dockers’ struggles this season. He says Bandari players understand his style of play and match approach which could make things harder for his side. The stage is ready for Kakamega Homeboyz vs Vihiga Bullets pic.twitter.com/HOd2PfFa0C— Meshack Kisenge (@kisengemeshack1) March 9, 2022 “It is definitely not going to be easy, I have coached Bandari and most of the players know my style of play and match approach and I expect a tough game as was the case in the first leg but we are ready, we are going to fight for all the points and I am positive that if we implement our game plan well, we will leave Mombasa with maximum points,” he added.Homeboyz striker Yema Mwamba will also be facing his former employer and Mwalala has cautioned the striker against being too eager to score against the Dockers who dropped him at the start of the season. He is Homeboyz’s top scorer in the league this season with nine goals to his name.“There is always that urge to probe a point when playing against for former team but I have told him to remain focused and be his usual self, if the chances come he will convert but he should not be under too much pressure to score against Bandari because it can be counter-productive,” he added. The match will start at 3 PM.
