The 27-year old has amassed sizeable experience having featured in the Kenyan league for three years, won titles in the Somalia league and rubbed shoulders with the best in Egypt and in the CAF inter-club tournaments. Murugi made his Kenyan top-flight bow with KCB in 2013 whom he played for two seasons before moving to Stima in 2016. He joined Dekedaha FC of Somalia in 2017 and would walk home with the league winners medal in the subsequent season. He didn’t last long in Egypt as he returned home in March 2020 after the coronavirus pandemic orchestrated the halting of the league.
