We had discussions; they tabled their offer which I can confirm was good but unfortunately, they wanted a coach who would take over immediately and I could not just leave Homeboyz at this stage of the season and so I had to turn down the offer,” he told Mozzart Sport. The tactician went on to thank Union management for considering him for the job and did not rule out taking over at the club in the future. He termed the job offer as an honour.“Coastal Union is a team close to my heart because I played for them and when I stopped playing I also served as an assistant coach at the club and I really want to thank the club for considering me for the job, for me it is a great owner and maybe it was not the right time for a reunion but let’s wait and see what happens in the future,” he added.According to the tactician, he could just walk out on the Kakamega Homeboyz as he wants to complete the project he started with winning this season’s league title slowly looking like an achievable target.Kakamega Homeboyz head coach Bernard Mwalala is likely to ditch the club for Tanzania’s Coastal Union.https://t.co/yIjDf4BtgK— Mozzart Sport Kenya (@MozzartSportKe) March 18, 2022 “I am a project coach; I cannot just walk out because I got a good offer elsewhere. Right now we are on top of the league, the players look up to me not only as a coach but also as their big brother. So I want to say that I am fully committed to Kakamega Homeboyz at the moment and I am not moving to Coastal Union or any other team at this point of the season,” he continued. He reserved some praise for Homeboyz management and the playing unit and urged everyone to keep pulling in the same direction.I want to thank Homeboyz management led by chairman Cleophas Shimanyula for the support that they have accorded since I joined the team as an assistant and later as head coach, I also thank the players for a good job that they are doing on the pitch and I urge them to continue with the same spirit because together I believe we will achieve great things,” he concluded.Mwalala’s charges will take on Ulinzi Stars when the league resumes on 2nd April.
