Ash Barty has stunned the tennis world by announcing her retirement. In an interview with Casey Dellacqua she said she had been thinking about retiring ‘for a long time’ and had ‘a gut feeling’ after her Wimbledon win. Barty departs at the peak of her career, as the reigning Australian Open and Wimbledon champion who has been No 1 since 2019.
