Kenyan international Ian Otieno recorded yet another clean sheet as Zesco played to a barren draw away to Green Eagles in a Zambian Super League match on Thursday afternoon. His compatriot Vincent Oburu missed the action as he is set to be sidelined for four more weeks according to Zesco United’s head coach Numba Mumamba after sustaining an injury at the start of the month. The former Wazito FC forward sustained an injury during a league game against Konkola Blades on Saturday 5 March, a match that which the Ndola-based side emerged victoriously and consequently missed the Cup tie against Green Eagles earlier in the month. The draw saw Zesco miss the opportunity to close in on league leaders Red Arrows who are on 56 points, eight more than Zesco who are tied on points with Green Eagles at 48.The Harambee Stars custodian was called to action at the half-hour mark when he had to deal with a dangerous cross from Derrick Bulaya, and he played well to keep the score 0-0, and repeated the same four minutes later to stop Ernest Mbewe’s ferocious shot.Despite both teams streaming attacks of their own towards the end of the first half, none of them could find the back of the net and had to go into the break level.Green eagles made changes shortly into the second half as they sought to go for the win. 10 minutes later the hosts almost took the lead but Clement Mwape put his body in the line to block a shot that was seemingly headed for the net.Eventually, the two teams had to accept the barren fate despite putting up brilliant performances, and with Ian Otieno stepping up whenever called upon to keep the ball out.
