Under pressure Zico blames fatigue for derailing KCB’s title quest

KCB head coach Zedekiah Otieno believes lack of adequate rest after the conclusion of the 2020/21 season is largely to blame for their inconsistent run in the FKF Premier League this season. The Bankers, who finished second in the FKF Premier League last season have struggled to replicate the performance this season and have been inconsistent in the league this campaign in a season that man expected them to contest for the league title. The 2021/22 season started barely a month after the close of 2020/21 season and there was outcry from clubs that they did not have adequate time to rest and prepare for the new season and Zico believes that his team is being haunted by the lack of rest. He says his team has been fatigued for the better part of the season.“We simply didn’t get enough time to rest after concluding our fixtures because the new season began almost immediately. You remember we had to battle for the title up to the very final minute but lost it to Tusker who equally played up to the last day of the season,” he told the Star.Tusker FC walikosa nafasi ya kupanda kwenye jedwali la ligi kuu nchini FKF, baada ya kutoka sare ya bila kufungana na KCB . #SafuYaSpoti #LookUPTVKE #LookUPTVNews Live: https://t.co/e50xi7hmKl ^DM pic.twitter.com/rT9f8YnCM8— LOOK-UP TV (@lookuptv) March 19, 2022 The Bankers are currently 5th in the table with 27 points, 12 off leaders Kakamega Homeboyz. Next for the Bankers is an away game against Tusker FC. The two teams played out to a barren draw in the first leg played a week ago.The tactician refused to be drawn into title talks with the league slowly looking like an uphill task, 12 matches before the season comes to a close.“We are focusing on improving our performance. The title isn’t really a priority for us at the moment and we wouldn’t really want to dwell on that,” he added.
