Murang’a Seal tactician Vincent Nyaberi is adamant that his side is still in the promotion battle despite falling down the pecking order in the league standings after seeing three games canceled back to back. The side once topped the National Super League table this campaign but have since dropped to ninth on the log with 24 points, 12 off the league leaders APS Bomet.Despite all the issues that have engulfed the team, including being docked points and seeing the game against Zoo being awarded to the Kericho-based side, Nyaberi maintains that they are still in the promotion race.”We are still in the run for promotion to the FKFPL. In the three games we have at hand, I know we can manage to pick at least six points and hopefully, the three awarded to Zoo can be given to us, which means we will still be among the contenders for promotion,” he told Mozzart Sport. The National Super League match between Murang’a Seal and Naivas FC that was to be staged at the St. Sebastien Park in Murang’a was not played as match referees failed to show up.This is a new one.#NSL pic.twitter.com/PTjMCALMwP— Ole Teya (@Kevin_teya) March 12, 2022 The Murang’a-based side’s match against Shabana that was set for Saturday last week at St. Sebastian Park was the recent one to be put on hold with the FKF Caretaker Committee indicating that the supposed venue for the match was still under investigation. This was the third match in a row pitting Murang’a Seal that was being postponed, their match against Naivas earlier in the month at the same venue failed to take place and their trip to Muhoroni being of no use as referees failed to show up for the match against Muhoroni Youth, their last match in the league coming on March 6, 2022.The coach acknowledged that going for a long time without playing competitively has not been easy to his players but noted that he has taken it upon himself to implore them to continue pushing.”The canceled games have taken a toll on the players but I have been constantly talking to them in training, telling them not to give up. We are not the only affected team but we have been doing our best to ensure that we do not lose momentum,” he added.
