So, the rumors are not true after all. Over a year ago, English press was anticipating that Manchester United will offer an extension to Bruno Fernandes even thou he had the current one running until 2025. They were supposed to double his wage and sign another long term contract. But the word was also out that the Portuguese was having second thoughts and wanted his teammate Paul Pogba to commit to the club first, as he apparently rated ambition and trophies over money. Well…So happy to keep living this dream for more years ♥️ @ManUtd 🖤 pic.twitter.com/I62k64nBQD— Bruno Fernandes (@B_Fernandes8) April 1, 2022 Fast forward 365 days and here we are, in front of Bruno’s new contract, while Pogba’s one probably won’t be seen, because it won’t be written. The Frenchmen admitted to be disillusioned at Old Trafford and is certain to leave on free in June, but in the meantime, Fernandes had a change of heart. In the time of great instability, when there is no coach, new CEO just came in and the Champions League place is under serious threat, Bruno decided the Theatre of Dreams is his place for the next 4 years.Fernandes stays if Pogba signs contract extensionThe Portugal international, who is the leading United’s assistant with 39, also scored 49 goals in just 117 games for United, and won the Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year award twice. Fernandes signed a contract which runs out in 2026, with the option for another year, and was delighted with his new, 240,000 pounds a week wage.“From the moment that I joined Manchester United, I have had a special relationship with the club and our amazing fans. I grew up watching this team, dreaming of getting the chance to play here one day. That dream is now a reality and an honour. Even after two years, it still feels amazing to step out at Old Trafford, to hear the fans sing my song and to score in front of the Stretford End. It is a true privilege to wear this shirt and to fight for our incredible club. There is so much more that I want to achieve here, and I know that is the same for the rest of the squad and staff. More than anything, we want to give the fans the success that they deserve. We have shared some great moments over the last years, but the best is yet to come from myself and this team” said Fernandes.
