It’s the first LPGA major of 2022. It’s also the final time this long-running tournament will be held in the California desert.
The Chevon Championship is on the move to the Houston area in 2023 with a later date on the calendar. But in 2022, the tournament celebrates its 51st and final playing at Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage, California.
After more than five decades, every significant star the LPGA has ever produced – with the exception of Babe Zaharias, who died in 1956 – competed at Mission Hills.
Adding to the bittersweet nature of these final laps around the Dinah Shore Tournament Course is the knowledge that the voice in the booth, the First Lady of Golf as television colleagues have dubbed Judy Rankin, will be stepping aside, too.
