Sofapaka FC captain Lawrence Juma has admitted that his side has not been at its best and eyes better performance in the closing stages of the campaign.Despite the mass recruitment done by Batoto ba Mungu at the start of the season, the tea, sits in 13th position in the log with 27 points. They have managed just six wins all season and the not so satisfactory run resulted in coach Ken Odhiambo leaving the team on Wednesday. In an interview, the midfielder admitted that they have just not been good enough this campaign.“The season has not been too good but we will keep pushing to turn our season around, so far we have not been too impressive,” he stated. The 2021 FKF Premier League midfielder of the year believes that their struggles have been largely down to having a young team. Most of Sofapaka’s off-season signings were youngsters who are still trying to fit into the team.🚨 Friendly match update🗞️We played @tusker_fc in a build math at Ruaraka grounds. Jacob Onyango and Hansel Ochieng second half goals were enough as we beat our opponent 2-0.@betikaKe@OyandoRonny#BatotoBaMungu pic.twitter.com/FDka1Gln63— Sofapaka FC (@FC_Sofapaka) March 30, 2022 “We are still gelling, majority of the players in the team are young and are still growing in the league – they still do not have enough league experience but they are growing with each passing day. As the experienced players in the team, we are trying to build them and I believe that they will catch up soon,” he added. On what position his team will finish this, the creative midfielder was noncommittal on specifics saying they are keen on bettering their last season’s performance where they ended the season in the 12th position.“We are trying our best, we do have a specific position that we want to finish in but we want to do better than we did last season. It is a challenge but we have so many games left and anything is possible” he added.Batoto ba Mungu will be up against FC Talanta at Kasarani on Saturday afternoon.
