The best team in the world? Chelsea are not even the best team at Stamford Bridge! The Blues stunned by Bees

It’s the stuff of dreams or the stuff of nightmares – depending on whose story you’re listening. Chelsea players produced a horror show as they fell to a 4-1 home defeat against the Premier League new boys Brentford. Yes, you read that right. In quite an extraordinary match at the Bridge, Antonio Rudiger gave Chelsea the lead just before the break but then it all went horribly wrong for the last season’s UEFA Champions League winners.Rudiger’s opening goal came almost out of desperation. The big defender controlled the ball and lashed in a thunderous effort from around 30 meters out. It was a goal that would be a worthy winner to any football match. But, to the shock of the Blues, it would to prove merely a bright spark in what was an utterly dark and miserable afternoon.Chelsea vs. Brentford in an image 📸 pic.twitter.com/Unf2ZcoT72— B/R Football (@brfootball) April 2, 2022 Vitaly Janelt scored on either side of a Christian Eriksen strike as Edouard Mendy fished the ball out of his net three times in just ten minutes. Just 12 minutes after Rudiger’s magical opener, the magic was firmly working wonders for the visitors.Janelt hammered in a terrific strike from just inside the box and Eriksen scored his first goal for the club just a couple of minutes later to turn the match on its head and send the visiting fans in a state of pure elation. The red and whites were jumping for joy just a few meters away from Mendy’s net. And they were treated to another clinical goal shortly after.Massive upset at Stamford Bridge as Brentford hit FOUR past Chelsea 🐝 pic.twitter.com/2HKgoQqeaZ— 433 (@433) April 2, 2022 Thomas Tuchel’s players were still reeling when Janelt ran onto an Ivan Toney pass and lifted the ball over Mendy to make it 3-1 for the Bees.Chelsea attacks proved even more futile in the remaining 30 minutes and Yoane Wissa popped up late to score the fourth goal with Chelsea’s defence looking like a bunch of schoolboys. This was undoubtedly the best result in the history of Brentford Football Club.
