It’s crowded at the top of the Premier League. The last Champions League spot is up for grabs and four teams are chasing it, Tottenham included. The Spurs are trying to catch up with their fiercest rivals Arsenal and they needed a win against unpleasant Newcastle. It didn’t look good when Magpies took the lead after 40 minutes, but Antonio Conte said the right words in the locker room and the game ended the right way for him: Tottenham – Newcastle 5-1.20/20 – Harry Kane has assisted 40 goals in the Premier League; his first 20 assists were spread across his first 211 appearances in the competition, while his last 20 have come in his last 63 appearances. But from the moment Davis equalized in the 43rd minute, Newcastle turned into a Steve Bruce team which was in the relegation struggle, before Steve Howe took over. The Magpies stood firm until the very end of the first half, but just blew up in the second half.Spurs were better team in the first half, but nowhere near a good chance. But it’s like they waited to receive the goal first before starting to play. In the second half, they scored 4 past Magpies, and it could have been more. The situation on the pitch was so bad for the visiting team that Howe substituted striker Wood with a center back in order to prevent more goals and tighten up the defense. Doherty, Son, Royal and Bergwijn all scored for the Spurs and Conte’s team is now at that fourth position, levelled with Gunners, but Arsenal has two games in hand. Magpies recorded a third straight defeat and need to start winning soon, in order to secure survival, since near the end of the season they play Arsenal, Liverpool and Man City in consecutive weeks.PREMIER LEAGUE – ROUND 31Saturday Liverpool – Watford 2-0 (1-0)/Jota 22, Fabinho 89 pen/Wolverhampton Wanderers – Aston Villa 2-1 (2-0)/Jonny 7, Young 36 og – Watkins 86 pen/Chelsea – Brentford 1-4 (0-0)/Rudiger 48 – Janelt 50, 60, Eriksen 54, Wissa 87/Leeds United – Southampton 1-1 (1-0)/Harrison 29 – Ward-Prowse 49/Burnley – Manchester City 0-2 (0-2)/De Bruyne 5, Gundogan 25/Brighton – Norwich City 0-0Manchester United – Leicester City 1-1 (0-0)/Fred 66 – Iheanacho 63/Sunday West Ham United – Everton 2-1 (1-0)/Cresswell 32, Bowen 58 – Holgate 53/Tottenham – Newcastle 5-1 (1-1)/Davies 43, Doherty 48, Son 54, Royal 63, Bergwijn 83 – Schar 41/
