Celtic have moved six points clear of Rangers at the top of the Premiership table after a stunning comeback at Ibrox.
Former Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey gave hosts the perfect start with a goal just two minutes into this Old Firm Derby, which was really a must-win game for Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s men.
But Tom Rogic levelled for Celtic just four minutes later to silence the jubilant Gers and restore some calmness for his table-topping team. Defender Cameron Carter-Vickers completed the turnaround just before the half-time break with a scruffy goal from close range. This victory on enemy territory puts Celtic in a commanding position at the Premiership summit with just six games to play in the race for the title.
But, as it often happens with these fixtures, it wasn’t all about football. The night before the game, Celtic fans sealed the Ibrox gates to prevent their rivals’ fans to get into the stadium, and some shocking scenes followed at the start of the second half too.
There was a broken glass bottle thrown onto the pitch, just a few steps away from Celtic’s well-known goalkeeper Joe Hart. After the game eventually resumed, Rangers pushed for a way back into the game and Ramsey had an effort cleared off the line, but the offside flag was already up against the Wales international.”Sent to me from heaven, Glasgow Celtic you are my world 💚🍀”pic.twitter.com/7OmQtP32eC— Everything Celtic (@aboutceltic) April 3, 2022 The home team gave it their all but were unable to beat Hart again. On the other end, Celtic had chances to settle the match, but wasted a few good chances through Israeli forward Liel Ababa. The green and whites did manage to keep the hosts at bay until the end and celebrated what could prove the pivotal result in their battle to reclaim the title.
