Former Vihiga Queens tactician and Harambee Starlets head coach Alex Alumira has been appointed as Fountain Gate Academy Sporting Director.He joins the institution barely a week after quiting his job at Tiger Queens of Arusah citing the need to focus on his head coach role at Starlets. Days later, it emerged that a Tanzanian outfit had been courting the tactician way before his abrupt departure from Vihiga. Alumira staying in Tanzania after ditching TigersAlumira was unveiled on Tuesday 5 April at the Fountain Gate Arena, the home ground of the Fountain Gate Princess who play in the Tanzania Women Premier League.As a Sporting Director, Alumira will be in-charge of the sporting and administrative functions of the Fountain Gate Princess team, The Fountain Gate Academy which is the men’s senior team plying their trade in the country’s second tier league and the academy that runs from the Under 20, Under 17, Under 15 and Under 13.The boys’ team, under Egyptian head coach, Suleiman Ahmad are located in Gairo, where they also have their stadium.”Administratively, I will be working hand in hand with the CEO’s of the various departments of the academy. I will also monitor and evaluate the technical staff of the various sports units that are based in Dodoma, Morogoro, Gairo and Dar es Salaam,” offered Alumirah speaking to Mozzart Sport. The team recently signed a partnership deal with Turkish Giants, Formgate FC that will enable players from the Princess team get first opportunity to play in Turkey.While the senior teams have their home grounds in Dodoma and Gairo, the age-group academies are in all the four towns.
