Mayele the hero as Yanga complete league double over Azam to go 14 points clear at the top

Red hot Yanga FC continued with their determined march towards claiming the 2021/2022 Tanzanian league title as they completed a league double over third placed Azam FC, for the first time since 2012/2013, to open a fourteen point gap at the top of the Ligi Kuu Bara following the match played on Wednesday evening.Staged at Azam’s Sports Complex, Yanga came from one goal down courtesy of goals from Djuma Shabani and Fiston Mayele as they recorded a 1-2 victory to claim all three points and the bragging rights in the Dar es Salaam Derby. With the victory, the Jangwani Street side also extended their unbeaten start to the season as they made it nineteen games without tasting any defeat (W16 D3).𝗙𝗨𝗟𝗟 𝗧𝗜𝗠𝗘⏱Azam FC 1-2 Young Africans SCHii ndio Young Africans Sports Club🔰💪🏽🤫#TimuYaWananchi #DaimaMbeleNyumaMwiko pic.twitter.com/2TDGfByhPh— Young Africans SC (@yangasc1935) April 6, 2022 Early in the match, that unblemished record looked to come under threat as the ice cream makers made a blistering start off the blocks. Their efforts rewarded as early as the 10th minute when Zambian international Rodgers Kola reacted quickly to a Bruce Kanwa low cross into the area, getting to the ball ahead of the sluggish Yanga defenders and firing his team ahead with a low effort past the goalkeeper. That goal appeared to have stirred the hornet’s nest as the log leaders came charging right back although through some stroke of luck when they were awarded a penalty just seven minutes later, Shabani stepping up and sending the keeper the wrong way with a deceitful attempt to restore parity in the game. What a goaaaaaaaaalFiston Mayeleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee👑 pic.twitter.com/px170W1BRm— Young Africans SC (@yangasc1935) April 6, 2022 Having gotten the equalizer that settled their nerves in the game, Yanga grew in leaps and bounds and with only twelve minutes to go, man of the moment Mayele stepped up with a beautiful bicycle kick that proved to be a worthy match winner that gave and earned Yanga all the points, the league double and the bragging rights.
