APS Bomet head coach Charles Odera has termed the exit of his two key defenders halfway through the season as a big blow and hopes that they will be given an opportunity to replace themRight-back and captain Chris Wilunda and central defender Dominic Kirui both left the team last week to join the disciplined forces, leaving the National Super League (NSL) leaders with a big hole to fill as they seek to earn promotion to the FKF Premier League for next season. The team has been impressive in the first leg and they now prepare to enter a rigorous second leg that starts in just over a fortnight and for Odera, planning for the second phase of the season without the pair is a herculean task. “The exit of the two players is definitely a big blow for us because they were not only starters but very key players for us and coming in the middle of the season, it becomes a problem. Wilunda was our captain and our only right-back in the team and that’s a gap that he has left, we will now have to work with a make-shift player in that position,” Odera told Mozzart Sport.Betika National Super League Saturday Results Coastal Heroes 1-1 Fortune Sacco Kibera Black Stars 5-0 SS AssadKisumu Allstars 3-0 Murang’a Seal MCF 1-1 APS BometMigori Youth 2-0 Mwatate United #BNSL #RadullLive pic.twitter.com/2KWG62zwWo— @RadullLive (@radulllive) April 2, 2022 The former Oserian Fastac and Chemelil Sugar defender is hoping that the FKF Caretaker Committee will open a small transfer window to enable them and other teams to beef up their squads in readiness for the second leg that starts on the 16th of April.“The first leg has just ended and we are praying that they open the transfer window to enable us to replace the two players who have left and maybe beef up the team with 2 other players. We have a great team and it is just a matter of strengthening to ensure that we have depth in case of injuries or suspension,” he continued. On areas that they need to improve on, the ex Chemelil and Muhoroni Youth coach believes that they need to create more goal-scoring chances as they have been winning games by small margins.“We thank God for what he has done so far but we know that still have a long way to go. The National Super League (NSL) is a very tough and competitive league, there are no underdogs here because any team is capable of pulling surprises. We need to work on the creative aspect of the game. We have not been scoring enough goals and the problem is not our strikers, it is the creative side of the game we need to get the ball to our attacker and I am confident we will start scoring more,” he concluded.
