AUGUSTA, Ga. – Forty-five years after winning his first of two green jackets, Tom Watson struck his first ceremonial tee shot at the Masters.
On a cloudy Thursday morning, Watson was joined by six-time Masters champion Jack Nicklaus and three-time Masters winner Gary Player to begin the 86th playing of the Masters.
All three hit the fairway, with Watson’s tee shot ending up being the longest of the trio (he got Player by about 10 yards).
Overnight storms and morning showers delayed play by 30 minutes.
