AFC Leopards head coach Patrick Aussems has termed Lewis Bandi and Peter Thiong’o’s versatility as a good thing for his team as it gives him options in matches.Bandi, one of the youngest players at the den has slowly established himself as one of the key players in the squad. Despite being primarily a midfielder, he has become a key right-back for Leopards and can slot into the left-back position seamlessly as was the case against Kenya Police on Sunday. Thiong’o, who is a winger is utilized as a backup right-back these days and equally put in a good performance against the law enforcers. With Leopards currently banished from signing players, having such utility players is a boost for coach Aussems. In an interview, the tactician hailed the pair saying their ability to fill in different positions effectively is a big positive for the club.Lewis Bandi has been sensational for Leopards down that left flank.#FKFPL— Ole Teya (@Kevin_teya) April 3, 2022 “Lewis can play on the left, can play on the right and he made an amazing performance against Kenya Police FC. His versatility gives me more options which is a good thing for us. There is also Thiong’o who played so well against Police, and remember he is not a real full-back and I am happy with his performance as well,” he said. With the departure of Marvin Nabwire, Daniel Musamali and Collins Shichenje, Ingwe had to field a young midfield pairing of Giovanni Lukhumwa and Brian Wanyama against the law enforcers and the two, both graduates of Ingwe’s youth team put in a good performance and they earned the praise of the tactician.“In the middle, we had young players, Giovanni and Brian who last year were not even training with us, they were in the youth team and they also did well,” he added.Aussems and his charges will be up against Wazito FC on Sunday afternoon at the Thika Sub-County Stadium.
