Julian Brandt took over the goalscoring mantle from Erling Haaland and scored a double in his Dortmund’s 2-0 win over Stuttgart on Friday night.Heading into this game, Dortmund’s prized asset Haaland had a barren run of 295 minutes. For such a prolific player, that was too strange. What’s even stranger is that the Norwegian’s goalless run was extended to 385 minutes at the Mercedes-Benz Arena.Thankfully for Marco Rose’s team, another talented attacker stepped up. Brant scored in either half to propel the yellow-black to three points.Although Haaland didn’t score, he did provide the assist for the first goal. He rolled the ball for Brandt to stab home easily.Gio Reyna was nearly in tears after picking up another injury one minute into Borussia Dortmund’s clash with Stuttgart 💔 pic.twitter.com/gPLAqgEOiT— GOAL (@goal) April 8, 2022 Stuttgart attacker Tiago Tomas had a good chance to level midway through the first half when he was inexplicably left alone, but his shot looped over Gregor Kobel’s crossbar.Brandt was at it again when captain Marco Reus played a nice one-two with the former Bayer Leverkusen man, allowing the latter to slot into the net and make it 2-0 to the visitors.Stuttgart had a difficult task to stop Dortmund without their promising striker Sasa Kalajdzic, so Egypt international Omar Marmoush had to help his attackers Chris Fuhrich and the 19-year-old Tomas, on loan from Sporting Clube de Portugal.Their Japanese midfielder Wataru Endo was the main driving force against Jude Bellingham, but it was the visiting team that scored goals in all the right moments and take full control of the fixture. The home team did give it a good go in the final 20 minutes, coming close on a few occasions and even hitting the crossbar from a miskicked Borna Sosa volley. So, Dortmund win by two goals with Erling Haaland not on the scoresheet. Perhaps he isn’t quite as deadly?BUNDESLIGA – ROUND 29FridayStuttgart – Borussia Dortmund 0-2 (0-1)/Brandt 12, 71/Saturday16:30: (2.50) Koln (3.35) Mainz (3.05)16:30: (1.15) Bayern (10.0) Augsburg (18.0)16:30: (5.50) Greuther Furth (3.90) M’ gladbach (1.70)16:30: (1.70) Wolfsburg (3.80) Bielefeld (5.70)19:30: (2.95) Hertha (3.10) Union Berlin (2.75)Sunday16:30: (5.00) Bochum (3.70) Leverkusen (1.80)18:30: (2.50) Eintr.Frankfurt (3.35) Freiburg (3.05)20:30: (1.55) RB Leipzig (4.40) Hoffenheim (6.50)***odds are subject to change***
