After over five months on the sidelines, Kakamega Homeboyz midfielder Francis Omondi is back and ready to feature in the title run-in.The defensive midfielder has been out of action since November when he underwent an unspecified surgery. After recovery he resumed training in March but is yet to feature for the Bernard Mwalala led surprise league leaders.Asked when the midfielder is expected back in the match-day squad, Mwalala said that the midfielder, who has featured in two friendly matches is two matchdays away from being integrated back into the team. He is expected back in the squad for the match against Kenya Police FC in a fortnight.“Omosh is back and ready to play. During the international break, he featured in two friendly matches, and in fact against the county team, he featured for the entire 90 minutes and did not have any troubles and so it is just a matter of time before he is back. I think he will sit out of the two games against Sofapaka and we will reintegrate him back to them for the game against Kenya Police FC, I think he will be completely ready by then,” Mwalala told Mozzart Sport.A little throwback Who remembers the score line on this day?#MozzartBet#wearehomeboyz#AbanaBeingo pic.twitter.com/xZaD6ecMLf— Kakamega Homeboyz FC (@FcHomeboyz) April 7, 2022 The tactician termed the player’s return as a big boost and hailed the likes of Stephen Wakanya, Estone Esiye and Sunday Mutuku who played in the defensive midfield position in the former Mathare United man’s absence.“The likes of Wakanya, Esiye, and Sunday have done a good job in his absence and they continue to do well. In as much as Omosh is a key player we must appreciate the work that those who have been playing have done and his return gives us options as we seek to end the season strongly, as a coach I am very happy to have a selection headache because all my players are available and ready to play,” he added.Homeboyz will take on Sofapaka on Sunday at the Kasarani Annex.
