Thika Queens thump Bunyore Starlets

Thika Queens edged out Bunyore Starlets 3-0 in a Kenyan Women Premier League match staged at the Thika Sub-County Stadium on Sunday afternoon.The hosts started on a high going ahead in the 3rd minute through Stella Odhiambo who fired home from close range. Five minutes later, Bunyore had a chance to draw level but Jemima Anupi rattled the upright from close range.Starlets slowly grew into the game after that early set back and started to attack more with Anupi and Bracksides Itamba leading the attacks, they however couldn’t get past fast-rising Queens keeper, Mishi Mbaru.With the clock ticking, the much turned to an end to end affair with both teams attacking. The defender rose high to head home an Odhiambo cross with Bunyore keeper off her line. The hosts took a 2-0 to the break.Five minutes into the second half, Noel Shilachilo had an opportunity to half the deficit but she failed to take advantage of a loose ball inside the area, allowing Mbaru to collect the ball.Thika took control of the proceedings as the clock ticked while the visitors looked dangerous on the break but their counter attacks didn’t amount to much as good defending from the hosts helped them preserve their advantage.Queens had a couple of good late chances and they made one count in the 30th minute when Lovenita Lupemba fired poked home a loose ball for a 3-0 win.
