Bad news from Zambia as Harambee Stars goalkeeper suffers shoulder injury

Zambian champions Zesco United have been dealt a big blow after Kenyan custodian Ian Otieno dislocated his shoulder last weekend while in action against Buildcon.Consequently, the shot stopper who suffered the injury in the second half while attempting to stop Gift lukwesa from scoring has been confirmed to be facing a two-week long layoff.Quick recovery Ian Otieno. The club’s doctor Stephen Mbewe confirmed in their website that the former AFC Leopards man will be out for at least two weeks.“Otieno has made some good progress following Saturday’s injury. He is feeling much better. However, he will need at least two weeks to fully recover from this injury,” He said.The development is certainly bad news to coach Numba Mumamba who is desperate to retain the league crown he muscled from the hands of Nkana last season.“I can confirm that Otieno dislocated his shoulder and was quickly taken to the hospital for further medical attention.” said the tactician on the club’s website.Otieno joined the Ndola based club in January 2020 from Red Arrows on a three-year deal as a replacement to James Banda whose career was in its sunset days.He enjoyed the company of three compatriots; David Odhiambo, Jesse Were and Mark Makwata at the club but all have since left the outfit.Zesco will face Power Dynamos at the Arthur Davies Stadium, in Kitwe on Sunday in their next game.
