Shabana FC head coach Sammy Okoth believes that players’ adapting fast to his philosophy helped the team turn what was becoming a disastrous campaign to become contenders for promotion to the top tier.The Kisii County-based team was on a four-match losing streak before the seasoned tactician who turned out for the Glamour Boys during his playing days took over. He managed to turn the team’s season around and they are currently third in the log and are unbeaten under Okoth. The players have taken in instructions well because everything starts in the mind if the mind is right then it is easier to make things happen. We try to keep improving with each passing training session and game, I can say we are on the right path at the moment,” he said.On promotion push, Okoth downplayed talks of them returning to the top tier saying they are still building the team.“We fast have to play the way I want us to; which is making things difficult for our opponents by denying them the ball. Once they master the style fully, results will continue to be positive after which we can talk about promotion, for now, we remain in the building phase,” he added.Shabana will take on Coastal Heroes on Saturday at Mbaraki Sports Club.
