Yanga spokesman Haji Manara has dismissed reports indicating that they are interested in signing Harambee Stars defender Joash Onyango from their eternal rivals Simba FC.Onyango, who has been with Simba for the last two years will be out of contract in July, and efforts to renew his deal have proved futile as the two parties have failed to strike a new deal.Mkataba wa Joash Onyango na Simba SC unaelekea ukingoni, tetesi zinasema Yanga SC wanamuwinda. According to Manara, his club has other targets although he admitted that the central defender is a decent player.”It’s not true. As Yanga we have crossed that bridge, and we will not sign any player from there (Simba). There is no doubt that Onyango is a good defender but as Yanga we have other plans, we have bigger targets,” he told Maulid Kitenge.Onyango’s future at the club has been a subject of speculation for the past few months. Reports in Tanzania indicated that the player has tabled huge demands that include a Ksh. 5 million signing fee for him to renew his contract, a demand that the reigning league champions are reluctant. A host of other clubs have also been linked with the former West Kenya, Western Stima and Gor Mahia man.
