Kagera Sugar goalkeeper coach John Waw has turned down an offer to return to Sofapaka.The FKF Premier League (FKF-PL) side was keen to recruiting him, barely six months after he left the 2009 league champions.The former Mathare United, Kakamega Homeboyz, Chemelil Sugar, and Sony Sugar trainer left Batoto ba Mungu in October 2021 after the expiry of his contract with the side, he was replaced by veteran Sunil Shah.Two months later he was reunited with Francis Baraza at Kagera Sugar where he took over as the keepers’ coach.His star is shining in Tanzania and media reports have been linking him with a move to one of the bigger sides in the league and now Batoto ba Mungu want him back in the team as they look to rejig their technical bench following head coach Ken Odhiambo’s exit.OfficialFormer Sofapaka goalkeepers’ trainer John Waw has joined Kagera Sugar of Tanzania in the same capacity.He joins compatriot and his former coach Francis Baraza who’s currently in charge of the Millers.#KenyansAbroad pic.twitter.com/wo5OTRZOWg— Ole Teya (@Kevin_teya) December 7, 2021 The trainer admitted that there have been initial contacts with Batoto ba Mungu but was quick to reaffirm his commitment to the millers. He added that he is enjoying working in the Tanzanian league.“Right now I am contracted to Kagera until 2024 and I intend to honor my contract with the team. I am also enjoying my time at Kagera and the Tanzanian league in general and I want to continue here. I would definitely like to work for Sofapaka again in the future because I believe that I have unfinished business with the team. Hopefully, our paths cross again in the future,” he told Mozzart Sport.Waw has previously served as keepers’ trainer at Soy United before moving to Sofapaka.
